Have Christ, Will Travel

Do you notice that tired and weary man
standing on the side of the dusty road with an old,
weathered suitcase in one hand and a tattered cardboard
sign in the other? "Have Christ, Will Travel," the sign
reads. I am he.
My political journey is exactly that - a journey.
There will be no end until I go home to be with the
Lord. Until that day and hour comes though, I shall
continue to occupy myself in the political realm by
pressing forward the Crown Rights of Jesus Christ
wherever the Lord leads.
ONCE UPON A TIME…
Once upon a time I was a Republican Party activist. I
believed that the GOP was the key to fixing our nation's
political problems, especially with the Democratic Party
hell bent on pursuing godless Liberal policies. I was
wrong. I soon learned that the Republican Party machine
only cared about nominating "electable" candidates that
could defeat Democrats regardless of whether Republican
nominees held to Biblically correct principles.
Consequentially, today’s Republican Party resembles the
Democratic Party of 20 years ago, and can be expected to
resemble today’s Democratic Party 20 years from today.
While a Republican, I began referring to myself as a
Conservative. Being a Republican was not enough. I
needed to differentiate myself from moderate
Republicans who constantly belittled, ridiculed and
mocked those of us who championed Principle above
Politics, including the Life of the Unborn. A casual
waltz through a Republican Party convention hall would
confirm that it was only "acceptable" for certain issues
like Abortion to be talked about, but just so long as
those issues were kept to the sidelines so that the
"real" issues, such as Taxation and Free Trade, were not
interfered with.
However, soon I learned that even among
conservative Republicans, when push became shove,
Biblical beliefs were unwelcome, and I began to distance
myself from the GOP, eventually leading to an outright
divorce.
During that transition, I began referring to myself
as a Paleoconservative. Being a Conservative was no
longer enough. Conservatives were divided amongst
themselves, and the prevailing view of Neoconservatism
dominated the GOP hierarchy. While "Paleos" had a
stronger reverence for traditional conservatism, it was
Nationalism and Globalism that truly separated the two
philosophies. Neos might be counted on to support
traditional conservative positions, but not at the
expense of godless Globalist ends. Because of this
division, Paleoconservatism seemed to be the perfect
political philosophy for me.
But once again, I soon discovered that even among
Paleoconservatives, certain issues were expendable. Many
of my Paleo friends appeared to be Pro-life champions –
and they talked a good game – but when the pressure
became great, their "more important" issues, such as
Immigration and Economic Nationalism, would shove Life
to the background. For them, it became "okay" to support
Abortion of the Unborn in certain "exceptional"
situations, as long as Paleos remain "united" on "true"
Paleoconservative issues.
I arrived at my wit’s end.
VAIN IMAGINATIONS AND HIGH THINGS
By the Grace of God alone, I finally came to the
realization that all of these philosophies -
Republicanism, Conservatism, Paleoconservatism - are
nothing more than vain imaginations rooted in the folly
of Man. Not one of them is rooted in an immovable
foundation. Not one of them is rooted in Christ.
This had been the problem all along. I just never
realized it.
Why should Christians support Republican Party
politics when the end product is enmity against Christ?
Why should Christians support Conservatism if
Conservatism means conserving Christless government? Why
should Christians support Paleoconservatism if Christ is
forced to the back of the bus?
Political philosophies are vain imaginations unless
rooted in Christ. God ordains all power and authority
for His glory and for the government and welfare of His
creation. Any contrary philosophy is therefore a vain
imagination of Man.
The Apostle Paul confirms this when he explains, "[T]he
weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty
through God to the pulling down of strong holds," and
exhorts Christians to cast down "imaginations,
and every high thing that [exalts] itself against
the knowledge of God, and [to bring] into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ...." (2
Cor. 10:3-5) (emphasis added)
Political philosophies that contradict the
Sovereignty of Christ are "imaginations" and "high
things" that exalt themselves against Christ. A
Christian should have nothing to do with them.
CONSTITUTION PARTY: PLURALIST FOUNDING
In 2002 I joined the Constitution Party, the first
party that I was aware of that proclaimed Jesus Christ
in its national platform. At that time, I believed that
I finally had found a true political home in the
Constitution Party. I had been led to believe that this
party was committed to putting Principle above Politics
and pressing the Crown Rights of Jesus Christ in the
legal and political spheres.
Four years later, I now realize that I was wrong.
Before joining the Constitution Party and promoting it
faithfully, I failed to research the 1992 founding of
the Constitution Party, which had been a "coming
together" - an unholy alliance, if you will - of
Christians with many who embraced Christless
philosophies. I discovered that the Constitution Party
originally had been founded on a "rock" other than Jesus
Christ, and that Christ’s Name originally was not
proclaimed in its Platform. I learned that many that did
proclaim Christ actually believed in a completely
different "Jesus" – the Jesus of Mormonism. I learned
that the party's founders, pursuing a Pluralist strategy
in league with Mormonism, welcomed any newcomer who held
to any Christless religion, just so long as he or she
believed in "Constitutional government."
Gag me with a spoon! What good is Constitutionalism
without the One True Christ as its foundation? Like all
other "ism’s," Christless Constitutionalism is nothing
more than a vain imagination. It is nothing more than a
high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of
God.
Fourteen years after its seeding, the Constitution
Party began to bear its godless fruits. At its
2006
National Committee meeting last Spring in Tampa,
Florida, the Constitution Party voted to continue its
affiliation with a Nevada affiliate, owned and operated
by Mormons, that regularly supports pro-abortion
candidates and officers. As a consequence of its
pro-abortion, anti-Christian actions, eight Constitution
Party state affiliates have disaffiliated from the
Pluralist national party, and more are likely to follow.
Meanwhile, the entire western region of the Constitution
Party has fallen into complete Mormon control.
Some National Committee members justified their votes
on the grounds of "religious liberty." Others justified
their votes on the grounds of "party growth." Others on
"states' rights." Others on "family loyalty." Still
others on demonic Mormonism itself. Vain imaginations.
High things.
Had I known in 2002 that this apparently Christian
party, along with many of its leaders that I once
revered, would one day turn its back on the Unborn and
the Sovereign Kingship of Jesus Christ in exchange for
political gain, personal aggrandizement, and abominable
Pluralism, I would have never given the Constitution
Party a second look. At that time I had been a member of
the Reform Party who was searching for an explicitly
Christian home.
After spending years as a Republican, Conservative,
Paleoconservative, and Constitution Party activist, it
is now time for me to press forward the Crown Rights of
Jesus Christ in a vehicle other than one that upholds
vain imaginations and high things. It is now time for me
to part ways with the Constitution Party. Hence my
sign: "Have Christ, Will Travel."
PARTY OF AMERICA’S HERITAGE
As of today, there exists one new national party that
is founded by American Christians explicitly on the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. There exists only one party that
"affirms
its belief in the triune God of the Holy Bible and
acknowledges that the Bible is the highest and final
authority to which all other authorities and ideas must
ultimately yield." There is only one party
that recognizes the truth that America's heritage
predates the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of
Independence, and is rooted in deeply Christian
principles.
That party is the party of America's heritage, the
American Heritage Party.
The driver of the small vehicle caught a glimpse of
me gripping my cardboard sign on the side of the road,
and pulled over to give some encouragement. After four
years in the Constitution Party, struggling with
Pluralists, Mormons, pro-Aborts and Pragmatists in a
futile pursuit of righteousness, it is now my intention
to seek refuge with other Christian Constitutionalists
who wish to promote America’s heritage in Law and
Politics. It is my intention to seek membership in the
American Heritage Party – a party in which I can
proclaim, Glory to Christ in the Highest, and be
welcomed because of it, not in spite of it.
In the Name of Jesus Christ our King, I pray that God
bless this decision and that Christ's precious Name is
glorified to the ends of the earth and beyond.
If you too have scribbled out your own sign on an old
piece of cardboard, and are holding it up at the side of
your street in your own familiar corner of the country,
be cheerful! Look to the road, and keep your eyes
peeled.
We’re on our way….
